Why Unlucky?
The name Unlucky comes from a mindset I’ve carried since I was a kid. Something psychologists call defensive pessimism.. I’ve always prepared for the worst, not because I expect things to fall apart, but because it keeps me sharp, focused, and ready for anything. That mindset followed me from the docks in Harwichport to the Pacific waters of San Diago and beyond, shaping the way I fish and the way I work. The Unlucky Mindset isn’t about believing in bad luck, it’s about beating it through preparation and hustle. Out on the water, things can change fast, and being ready for the unexpected is what puts big fish in the boat. I’ve built my skills by chasing new species, learning nonstop, and refusing to quit when the easy thing would be to head back in. That’s where Unlucky really comes alive: a blend of grit, awareness, and a no-quit attitude. But even with that edge, fishing should always be fun. I bring positive, upbeat energy to every trip because good vibes catch more fish than a bad attitude ever will. I want people to step on my boat and feel the excitement of the chase and the thrill of landing something big. At the end of the day, Unlucky is about turning pressure into preparation, challenges into opportunity, and every outing into a damn good time. It’s a mindset, a story, and a way of fishing — and everyone who steps aboard gets to be part of it.
